weather

While we do not anticipate any disruptions to our school schedule, with Hurricane Ian approaching, we wanted to communicate our inclement weather procedures.

Inclement Weather Procedures

In the event that students/staff cannot report to school due to inclement weather, York Preparatory Academy will have a virtual learning day.

How will I be notified of a school delay, early release, or virtual learning day?

  • Schoology Notification
  • Email Blast
  • Automated call and text from school
  • YPA Website (www.yorkprepsc.org)
  • WSOC-TV - Channel 9

How does a weather change affect busing, Patriot's Promise, and after-school activities?

  • In the event of a school morning delay, there will be no Patriot's Promise Morning Care and breakfast will not be served.
  • In the event of an early release or virtual learning day, all after-school activities including athletics, band, and after-school Patriot's Promise will be canceled.
  • In the event of a school morning delay or early releases, buses will operate on the adjusted schedule (Example: If school was delayed two hours, buses would run two hours later than normal time).

What are the procedures for Virtual Learning Day?

  1. Students can access Schoology by typing in the following web address: https://yorkprep.schoology.com
  2. Students will login using their student email address and password they use at school on their Chromebooks. Please contact debi.smith@yorkprepsc.org with any issues logging in.
  3. Once logged in students will be able to access posted assignments in Schoology.
  4. Assignments can be completed at home during the inclement weather day.
  5. Students who don’t have internet access can return to school the day after the inclement weather day and receive assignments.
  6. All assignments will be due within three days after students return from an inclement weather day.
  7. Teachers will be available 9am-3pm through email or Schoology messages if students have questions during a Virtual Learning Day.

Have a wonderful and safe week!
