Yesterday, the US News & World Report announced their annual rankings of the Best High Schools in the Nation. York Preparatory Academy is excited to report that the U.S. News & World Report has ranked York Prep High School as number 17 out of 469 (top 4%) of high schools in the state of South Carolina. In the United States, York Prep High School is ranked number 2,014 out of 26,727 (top 8%) nationally. York Prep High School's SCORECARD was calculated based on the student's performance on state-required testing including Advanced Placement outcomes, school graduation rates, and college preparedness. In all categories, York Prep High School out-performed the state and district.

Our school's Roots to Bloom program begins in Kindergarten and continues through High School allowing families a roadmap to success for teachers, students and parents to follow. York Prep's focus on individual student growth has achieved success throughout the years with the school being awarded the "National Blue Ribbon Award for Exemplary High Performing School" in 2018, the "Advanced Placement District Honor Roll" in 2018, the "School of Distinction Award" in 2017 and 2018, and the "Palmetto Gold Award" in 2012.

In response to the U.S. News & World Report's SCORECARD, York Prep High School Principal, Mr. Richard Shepard stated, "Our teachers and staff truly believe that our kids are worth whatever it takes. They consistently implement key learning strategies to encourage and attain high academic achievement. They set clear goals and expectations, employ relevant resources, and provide exceptional instruction. It is a privilege to work with a group of individuals who prioritize our kids' best interests and proactively provide the support and direction that enrich our entire learning community."
