The Board of Directors consists of 7 members that are coordinating and driving York Preparatory Academy. The primary purpose of the board is governance. The board is a group of individuals who speak with one voice to promote and support the mission of York Preparatory Academy. It is their responsibility to assure the success of that mission while establishing appropriate boundaries for accountability. Other respon sibilities of the board include good stewardship, fund-raising, and community relations. The board which is made up of parents and community members will be elected annually by the parents and staff of the school.

Craig Craze, Chair of the Board Of Directors

Craig Craze and his wife, Tiffany Craze, have four children and are long-time residents of Rock Hill. Craig is the Chief Operating Officer and part owner of SnapAV, which was recently recognized as one of the area's fastest growing companies by the Charlotte Business Journal. Prior to moving to Charlotte, Craig practiced public relations in New York City and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Tiffany has her degree in early childhood education and volunteers at Mt. Holly Elementary School.

Amy Baron, Board Member

Amy Baron is a graduate from Clemson University with a BS in Architectural Design. For the past 8 years, she has worked as a project manager for an architectural firm Charlotte, NC. She is an active volunteer in the community, participating in roles such as Habitat for Humanity, tutoring at-risk children with Pilgrims Inn as well as other community related activities. Amy resides in Rock Hill with her husband Jason and their 2 small children.

Betty White, Chair of Academic Committee

Betty White is a retired educator with a bachelor and master's degree in education.  Her 30 years of exp erience include elementary and secondary special education, elementary and secondary gifted education and secondary German.  She is a long term resident of Rock Hill who is dedicated to excellence in public education.

Diane Whitesell, Co-Chair of Academic Committee

Diane Whitesell is a parent of 6 children and grandparent of 14 children. She has been highly involved in the schools serving as PTO President and tutor of non-reading adults and dyslexic children. She has served as area president of her church women's organization, president of the Primary Children's Organization and is currently regional supervisor of religious instruction for 9th through 12th graders in eight congregations.

Michael Smith, Board Member

Michael B. Smith is a partner in the law firm, Morton & Gettys, where he focuses his practice on family law and criminal defense.  He is also a certified family law mediator.  Michael has served in various community organizations, including Boy Scouts, the Rock Hill Housing Development Corporation, the Teen Health Center, and the Arts Council of York County.  Michael is married and has four children.

Ruth Walkup, Board Member

Ruth is currently practicing as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Healthstat, Inc.  She graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina with her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing.  In addition, she graduated from Webster University with a Master’s degree in Health Services Management.  She also served 7 years in the United States Air Force Nurse Corps. Ruth resides in Rock Hill with her husband, Mike, and their 7-year-old triplets.

Kevin Parker, Treasurer and Business Committee

Kevin and his wife Robin Parker reside in Rock Hill, and have two children. Kevin is a graduate from Winthrop, with a MBA with a Concentration in Accounting. He is Vice-President at Guardian Fidelity Mortgage, Inc. and is an Adjunct Accounting Instructor at York Tech. Kevin serves as a Board of Deacons at a local church in Rock Hill, SC.
