No application received after 11:59 pm on January 31, 2010, will be placed in the 2010 lottery. All students applying to YPA after January 31 will be eligible to enroll on a first come first serve basis.

To ensure an orderly process, the Executive Secretary to the YPA Board of Directors will receive all applications after January 31. Upon receipt of each application, the receipt date and time will be clearly labeled on each application. For applications received by email, the receipt date and time will be the date and time set forth in the email. For applications received by mail, the date will be the postmark date and the time will be 11:59 pm. If a conflict arises, the order in which the applications are opened will determine the time the application was received. Each applicant will then be assigned a seat number in the appropriate grade corresponding to the order in which the application was received. No student applying after January 31 will be eligible for Priority Enrollment Status.

York Preparatory Academy is a tuition free, public charter school located in York County, South Carolina. Enrollment is open to any child in South Carolina. Parents/guardians may submit an online application below or they may download and submit the application via mail.

Parents/guardians must read and accept the following Terms & Conditions:

1. A full application must be completed for each child

2. Following the lottery, YPA will mail letters to notify parents of their children’s status on the waiting list. If a seat becomes available, the open seat will be offered to the next student on the waiting list.

3. If completing the application online, you will receive confirmation via email
4. If submitting the application via mail, you will receive a letter or phone call confirming receipt of your application. If you do not receive a confirmation within 4 weeks of submission by mail, please re-submit it.
5. Parents/guardians understand that their involvement and commitment to their child and to York Preparatory Academy are crucial to the success of their student.

Parents/guardians acknowledge that they will:

• Send their child to school rested, clean, nourished and ready to learn
• Attend scheduled parent/teacher conferences
• Ensure their child attends school regularly and arrives on time
• Be aware of their child's class assignments, progress and problems
• Maintain continuing contact with their child's teachers and administration
• Reinforce at home the importance of acquiring the knowledge, skills, and values needed to function in society
• Volunteer time, skills and resources when needed and when possible
• Take part in school and community programs that serve to empower them through participation in making educational decisions
• Respond to communications from YPA, including mail-outs and Web page postings
