Welcome to Mrs. Terry and Mrs. Heaton's Kindergarten Class Page!

Meet the Teachers!

We are so excited to start our 4th year together at YPA!

Mrs. Terry - I am excited to begin my 10th year as an educator in South Carolina.  I received my degree from Winthrop University and began my teaching career as a pre-k teacher in Marlboro County.  After teaching for 2 years there, I married my college sweetheart, Jason, and returned to Rock Hill.  I went on to teach for 4 years (kindergarten and 2nd grade) in Chester County.  I had beautiful identical twin daughters in 2012 and spent a year at home with them.  I returned to teaching in August 2013 when I accepted my current position at YPA.  I've loved teaching at YPA for the last 3 years and I'm excited about year 4!

Mrs. Heaton - No kindergarten classroom would be complete without a fabulous teaching assistant and ours is Mrs. Heaton!  Mrs. Heaton has many years of experience working with children.  Before coming to YPA, she worked with children at 2 of the best child development centers in Rock Hill.  She also received teacher training at Anderson University.  She and her husband, Cory, have two children, a daughter that attends YPA and a two year old son.

We LOVE working together to make sure our students are successful everyday in our classroom!

Wednesday, October 26 is our field trip to Hall Family Farm!!!  Please remember to wear your purple class shirt and bring a completely disposable lunch (no lunch boxes)!

Check your child's folder daily for any important information and to view their behavior/homework sheet.  We ask that you sign the behavior/homework sheet everyday.

Regularly check your email for classroom updates.  I try to send the Weekly Update every Wednesday but there may be other times I need to send out email reminders or messages to specific students.  Email is my main method of communication with parents unless I feel a phone call is needed.

For afternoon dismissal, you must display the yellow car rider tag in your windshield to go through the pick up line.  If you forget your tag, you will be asked to park in the front school parking lot and sign your child out in the front office.

Please send a healthy snack, a healthy lunch and a refillable, spill proof water bottle to school with your child everyday.

Please send a change of clothes in a labeled Ziploc bag to school in your child's book bag.

We have PE on Thursdays.  Your child needs to wear tennis shoes every Thursday.

We prefer the students to wear close toed shoes to school due to the wood mulch on the playground.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you ever have any questions or concerns!
