Welcome to Mrs. Nielsen's Class Page
Welcome to first grade at York Preparatory Academy! There's a lot of excitement ahead of us, including new teachers to meet, new books to read, new friends to meet and new skills to master...and I look forward to you sharing in these exciting times. First grade is fun, challenging and rewarding. I have high expectations and believe you will learn a lot in first grade. I will work hard to challenge you and meet your academic needs through instruction planned just for you. We will learn about each other and the importance of working as a team to discover new and exciting information. I know you will enjoy being a part of learning as we

About Me: I am originally from the Ann Arbor, MI area (go blue!) but I am a Michigan State University grad with my early childhood degree (Go Green!). I have a Master’s Degree in Education as well. My experiences have included pre-k, kindergarten, second grade and first grade. My husband Gale and I moved to Fort Mill, SC to be closer to our three grown children and two absolutely adorable grandchildren. I enjoy many things including: crafting, reading, baseball, the beach and most of all, teaching! I know that we will learn so much from each other this year. I love learning about my students and their interests.
Communication is key to helping your child do their best, please feel free to contact me anytime with questions or concerns. It is going to be a fun year of learning, new friends and adventures. I am excited to be a part of your child's first grade year!
